Lapid increases number of police officers on local streets
Finance Minister Yair Lapid and Internal Security Minister Yitzhak Aharonovitch signed an agreement Wednesday to expand municipal policing to 35 local authorities by the end of 2016, and there will be 565 police officer and inspector positions added.
"We are increasing urban policing by double the amount," Lapid said. "We need more tools to enforce the law and I believe that we need more police officers on the street. Citizens deserve personal security." (Gilad Morag)
