J'lem mayor estimates storm damage at NIS 290 million
Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat announced Wednesday in the Knesset's Finance Committee that the damage of December's winter storm is estimated at NIS 290 million ($83 million).
Barkat said the city expects the government to help out, putting Jerusalem back financially where it was before the storm. "The city experienced a mini-tsunami that caused massive damage," he said. "We have to makes sure that the damage doesn't fall on the residents' backs." (Noam 'Dabul' Dvir)
