Obama nominates Stanley Fischer as Fed vice chairman

US President Barack Obama announced Friday his intention to appoint the former governor of the Bank of Israel Stanley Fischer to the position of number two in the Federal Reserve of the United States.

If the appointment is confirmed by the Senate, American-Israeli Fischer, 70, will replace Janet Yellen. (AFP)
