Bill criminalizing use of the word "Nazi" passes preliminary reading

None

The Knesset has approved in a preliminary reading the bill proposal by MK Shimon Ohayon (Likud-Beiteinu) which would ban the use of Holocaust symbols and related expressions like the word "Nazi" – making it a criminal offense. The bill determines a punishment of six months in prison and a NIS 100,000 ($29,000) fine.

Before the bill was approved, opposition members attacked the proposal, but after the discussion the bill was passed with 44 'yes' votes. (Moran Azulay)
