Peres stresses importance of ties with US

President Shimon Peres addressed peace talks with the Palestinians, saying: "The US did not silence us. We insist in issues on which the US does not insist, including a Palestinian recognition of the Jewish State."
The president added: "The friendship between the two countries is extremely important."
