Palestinian film 'Omar' gets Oscar nod

Palestinian film "Omar" has been nominated for best foreign film in the 2014 Oscars. The nominees were announced Thursday in a ceremony in Beverly Hills, California.

"Omar," directed by Hany Abu-Assad, tells the story of the eponymous character, a baker turned fighter in the West Bank. It won the Jury Prize at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival.  The Oscars will be presented March 2 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, hosted by Ellen DeGeneres and broadcast live on ABC. (Ynet and AP)
