The Syrian government reached an agreement with the United Nations on Thursday to secure the evacuation of hundreds of trapped civilians from besieged parts of the central city of Homs, according to Syria's state-run TV.
The TV did not give further details but quoted Homs Governor Talal Barrazi as saying the evacuation would take place "very soon." Rebels who have held ancient parts of the city known as Old Homs have been besieged by government forces for more than a year. (AP)
