Knesset committee goes forward with plan to shorten men's mandatory military service
The Knesset committee for sharing the burden, headed by MK Ayelet Shaked, approved shortening the mandatory military service for men from 36 months to 32 months.
The committee delayed until next week the vote on extending the service period for females, and asked the IDF to present alternative to the current clause, according to which women's service cannot be extended in general, only in specific cases. In these cases, the positions will require consent for an additional eight months of service. (Moran Azulay)
