Rare Golda Meir handwritten postcard from Cairo sells for $4,654

A scarce Golda Meir handwritten postcard showing the Nile River in Cairo sold Thursday Evening for $4,654. It was auctioned by Nate D. Sanders of Los Angeles.

 

The postcard was stamped in Alexandria, Egypt in May of 1930. Meir addressed the postcard to Shoshana Golotcinskit in Tel Aviv and wrote in Hebrew and Yiddish:

 

“Shalom, Shoshana, I hope that you telegraphed me the addresses. I ask you to send immediately the Horowitz book, tell Lobatkin that I forgot to buy it. I ask you my dear that you write me. It is very difficult for me. Shalom, Golda.”
