Turkish government lifts Twitter ban

ANKARA - Turkey's government lifted its ban on Twitter on Thursday -- a day after the country's highest court ruled that the block was a violation of freedom and must be restored.
Turkey blocked access to the social media website two weeks ago after some users suggested the government was corrupt. Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan vowed to "rip out the roots" of Twitter for allowing the postings.
However, the high court decision was limited to Twitter. Access to YouTube remained blocked. (AP)
