As Republican 2016 presidential hopefuls are busy courting Sheldon Adelson and his friends at the Republican Jewish Coalition annual spring gathering, Democratic Jewish congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz assures that her party remains a strong supporter of Israel.
"Despite millions of dollars being thrown by the Republicans to try to persuade the Jewish community to support Republicans, the Jewish community voted 70 percent in 2012 for Barack Obama," Schultz said in an interview with The Jewish Journal over the weekend.
Schultz also asserted that Judaism and Democratic Party values were in sync.
"We are raised to believe in the importance of tikkun olam. Being our brothers keeper and looking out for one another—those are all things that are hallmarks of the Democratic Party," she said. (Ynetnews)
