US: 92% of Syria's declared chemical weapons evacuated
A senior US State Department official announced Sunday morning that 92 percent of Syria's declared chemical weapons have been taken out of the country.
According to the official's representatives, Foreign Minister John Kerry spoke with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov by telephone to discuss the final phases of the chemical evacuation.
The official added that Kerry expressed deep concern regarding reports of recent attacks in Syria in which toxic industrial chemicals such as chlorine may have been used in lethal amounts.
Kerry informed Lavrov that the US intends to bring the subject to the UN for discussion and investigation.
