Abbas: Holocaust 'the most heinous crime to have occured against humanity'

Palestinian Prime minister Mahmoud Abbas is due to release a formal statement Sunday morning in honor of Holocaust Memorial Day reported the New York Times.

Abbas' statement reportedly calls the Holocaust "the most heinous crime to have occured against humanity in the modern era."

"The Palestinian people, who suffer from injustice, oppression and denied freedom and peace, are the first to demand to lift the injustice and racism that befell other peoples subjected to such crimes," read a draft of the statement.

The statement would be the first time that Abbas has expressed condolences for the genocide. In his work on his doctorate in 1983, Abbas wrote that the Jewish claim of six million dead was questionable and claimed that the zionists had been supported by the NAZI party.
