Comptroller on Ashdod seaport scandal: Don't privatize the docks
State Comptroller Judge Yossef Shapira commented on the corruption and extortion scandal plaguing the Ashdod Seaport and which resulted in numerous arrests of leading businessmen, port workers and port union officials. The comptroller praised the police for the diligence.
However, he warned that privatizing the dock was not the answer, hinting it might boost port corruption. "In my opinion the docks should not be privatized, there are organizations that should not privately owned," Shapira said. (Aviel Magnezi)
