Lebanese army says it arrested 'terrorist' cell

None

BEIRUT - The Lebanese army says a security operation in the country's north has resulted in the arrest of a 'terrorist cell' plotting the assassination of a high-ranking officer in the security forces.

In a statement released Wednesday, the army says it arrested five members of the cell and is pursuing the remaining members. It did not say what group they belonged to.

The operation comes on the heels of a suicide car bomb explosion in southern Beirut on Monday night that left one dead and 20 wounded. Another in eastern Lebanon last week killed a police officer and wounded several others. (AP)
