A senior official in the Homefront Command addressed the rocket hit and fire in Ashdod that resulted in one man being severely injured saying, "Deaths were prevented because of the reaction of civilians. The amount of destruction at the gas station from the rocket strike shows that if the civilians who were at the station hadn't immediately entered protective shelters this would have ended completely different."
