Abbas asks UN to provide 'international protection' to State of Palestine
Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas asked the United Nations on Sunday to place the State of Palestine under the "international protection" of the United Nations following the deterioration of the situation in the Gaza Strip, the PLO said.
President Abbas has submitted a letter to UN coordinator for the peace process in the Middle East, Robert Serry, addressed to Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to "officially put the State of Palestine under the international protection of the UN," said the Liberation Organization (PLO).
