Hollande calls for Israel-Hamas ceasefire 'as soon as possible'

France's President Francois Hollande has again called on Sunday for a ceasefire "as soon as possible" between Israel and terror groups in Gaza.

"The role of France is, always, to ensure that the message of peace can be delivered and a ceasefire could be reached as soon as possible," Hollande said.

"We sincerely hope that there is a cease-fire immediately to restore the truce of 2012 and initiate a peace process. We understand Israel has a right to defend its citizens but it must also respect international law," French Defense Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said.
