Knesset committee meets on concern of anti-Semitism in demonstrations in Europe

A committee of the Israeli parliament met on Monday and expressed concern regarding the rise of antisemitic incidents in Europe during pro-Palestinian demonstrations in solidarity with Gaza.

"Israel is worried about the increase in anti-Semitic incidents in the world and condemns physical and verbal violence in pro-Palestinian demonstrations," said a statement from the committee for the Jewish diaspora.

Ambassadors and diplomats in Israel representing 10 countries of the European Union were present at the special meeting whose purpose was to "sound the alarm on the situation of European Jews."

"The role of European governments is to protect Jewish communities and let those who want to express their support for Israel do so freely," said a representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel, Akiva Tor.
