Egyptian officials stated that the Israeli delegation insisted during talks in Cairo on the terms of the demilitarization of Gaza, and expressed reservations about the issues of building an airport and seaport in Gaza.

According to the sources, Egypt tried to persuade the delegation to drop the issue of disarming Palestinian groups and accept the rest of the demands. The sources further stated that Israel agreed to release the prisoners, lift the siege and expand the allotted fishing space.
