Thousands flee eastern Gaza City, head for UN shelters

Thousands of Palestinians fled the area east of Gaza City Tuesday for fear of renewed Israeli strikes against the Gaza Strip, witnesses said.
An AFP journalist saw hundreds of Gazans carrying bags and mattresses as they abandon the area to seek shelter in UN schools turned into shelters. The neighborhood in the east of Gaza City was devastated by Israeli strikes during Operation Protective Edge.
