A minister in the Security Cabinet said Tuesday that, "Yesterday there was a feeling that we were close to an agreement. Almost everything was done and then Hamas decided to harden its position." According to the minister, "There is a consensus in the Cabinet regarding the need for a severe response to the rocket fire, but far reaching decisions probably won't be made immediately."
The minister added that, "We need to wait and see if this is a last minute flexing of the muscles in negotiations or a real desire from Hamas to escalate the situation. The wait is critical at this stage."
