A Bedouin man was shot and seriously wounded by IDF soldiers Friday afternoon after he entered an IDF firing range and had a confrontation with the soldiers training in the area.
According to the IDF, while training in at a firing range in the IDF's Tze'elim base, the soldiers noticed two Bedouins riding on ATVs. The forces repeatedly called on the two to leave the area – which is closed off to civilians – but were ignored.
After the two refused to leave, one of them began to move towards the soldiers and then, according to the IDF, pulled out a knife, prompting the soldier to open fire.
The man sustained serious injuries as a result. He received first aid from the soldiers and was then transferred to the Soroka Medical Center in Be'er Sheva.
The IDF said they have opened an investigation into the incident.
