Abbas to meet Hollande in Paris ahead of new UN bid
Palestinian President Mahmmoud Abbas will meet Friday in Paris with his French counterpart Francois Hollande, as he prepares to ask the international community to set a deadline for an Israeli withdrawal from the West Bank, his spokesman told AFP.
Abbas will spend two days in Paris, Nabil Abu Rudeina said, and will then travel to New York to attend the UN General Assembly on September 24 where he is slated to deliver a speech.
The Palestinian president is trying to rally support before the announcement of a new Palestinian diplomatic statehood initiative at the UN.
