Diskin: PM, defense minister diregard cabinet

Former Shin Bet chief Yuval Diskin, who used to be present in countless Cabinet meetings, exposed the serious malfunctions taking place in these meetings and sides with Economy Minister Naftali Bennett in his dispute with Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon.

“The cabinet members’ opinions are usually not taken into account by the prime minister and the defense minister. Over the years these meetings have become an event completely dominated by the two,” said Diskin.

Diskin, who expressed his opinion following the conflict between Bennett and Ya’alon regarding Former Military Chief Rabbi Avichai Ronsky, stressed that the “prime minister and defense minister control the issues of the cabinet’s discussions, the agenda and the level of intelligence and information the cabinet members receive on the various issues at hand. As long as the discussions are for the sake of discussions and not for voting, the members are usually disregarded".
