Vote on border fence in World Heritage site postponed

The government vote Sunday over the controversial planned route for the border fence in the Palestinian village of Battir, where 4,000 year old terraces have been declared World Heritage site by UNESCO, has been postponed.

The topic was brought up for discussion during the cabinet minister as planned, but Bayit Yehudi leader and Economy Minister Naftali Bennett slammed Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon's proposed route, saying the defense establishment's proposal did not make sense.

At the end of the discussion, it was decided not to hold the vote. The government noted the Supreme Court's recommendation and decided to raise the issue again in the future.
