WATCH: Former president Peres looks for a new job

In tongue-in-cheek video, one of Israel's legendary statesmen explores potential careers after 70 years in public service.

WASHINGTON – At the age of 91, former president Shimon Peres is out of a job. After 70 years of public service, the Israeli icon has set out to find a new line of work. His granddaughter released a satirical video in which the Labor legend tries his hand as a skydiving instructor, security guard, and a gas station attendant.

The video, which was released on several social media platforms, was produced by Peres' granddaughter, screenwriter Mika Almog. She was inspired to create the clip after reading the "Letter to a younger generation" written by her grandfather.

At the end of the video, Peres says he will continue to contribute to the State of Israel by helping promote coexistence and democracy in the Middle East, as well as encouraging the development of Israeli technology, through the activities of the Peres Center for Peace.

The clip was first screened Sunday night at a festive event in New York attended by the president of Mexico, former secretary of state Henry Kissinger, Robert De Niro, and international analysts. The video was distributed on US media outlets, social media platforms, and on leading blogs and websites.
