Damascus supports "any international effort" to fight the jihadists of the Islamic state (ISIS) and the al-Nusra Front said the Syrian Foreign Ministry Tuesday after strikes were carried out on its territory by a coalition led by the United States.
"Syria supports any international effort to combat terrorism (as) that of Daesh (an acronym in Arabic for ISIS) and al-Nusra, while insisting on respect for national sovereignty and in accordance with international laws," the ministry said in a statement.
