Teacher arrested for bringing ISIS material from Jordan

A 24-year-old resident of Umm al-Fahm was detained for suspected affiliation with terror group.

Police arrested a 24-year-old teacher from Umm al-Fahm on Monday, who is suspected of affiliation with a terror group or an illegal association. An ISIS flag, computers, and jihadi literature was found in the suspect's home.

During his interrogation the suspect admitted that he brought the material from Jordan. A Hadera court extended his detention through Wednesday.

Last week, another resident of Umm al-Fahm was arrested. Ahmed Shurbaji, a 23 year old, was convicted of illegally entering Syria and partaking in banned military training, including with the militant group ISIS.

The defense said that the court had no jurisdiction on the matter, claiming it was selectively enforcing the law.

However, the court accepted the position of the prosecutor, ruling that "leaving to take part in military training in any rival nation, in general, and in Syria, in particular, under the authority of ISIS specifically, presents a security offense which carries great danger to the defense of Israel."
