Palestinian freed in Shalit deal arrested on suspicion of drug smuggling from Jordan
It has been cleared for publication that the police arrested in September a Palestinian freed in the 2011 Gilad Shalit prisoner-swap on suspicion that he was smuggling drugs from Jordan to Israel. In August, IDF troops spotted the suspect crossing the border fence between the two countries, and after a foot-chase, seized 23 kilograms of hashish that he had left behind. After several days of questioning and intelligence operations, the suspect surrendered himself to the police.
