UN chief says moving ahead with Gaza war inquiry

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon announced on Tuesday he was setting up an investigation into attacks on United Nations facilities during the confict in the Gaza Strip and the use of UN sites to store weapons. Speaking at a monthly meeting of the UN Security Council on the Middle East, Ban told of his visit to a United Nations school in the Jabalia refugee camp.

"I look forward to a thorough investigation by the Israeli Defence Forces of this and other incidents in which UN facilities sustained hits and many innocent people were killed," he said. Ban's spokesman Stephane Dujarric later described the inquiry as standard procedure whenever UN facilities are targeted.
