Egypt confirms: incident at border result of smuggling attempt
Egyptian Interior Ministry spokesperson said the shooting incident at the border in which two IDF soldiers were wounded occurred after Egyptian security forces thwarted a smuggling attempt, reported Palestinian news agency Maan.
According to the report, a confrontation has evolved with a group of armed men which led to the crossfire that injured the Israeli soldiers.
The spokesperson added that the fire exchange lasted several minutes and afterward the armed men managed to escape.
