Conversion bill gets nod for Knesset readings despite opposition from Netanyahu

A bill to allow more flexibility on Orthodox conversions to Judaism in Israel has been approved for second and third readings in the Knesset, despite strong opposition from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The bill will allow more rabbis to conduct Orthodox conversions, which are currently only permitted by some 30 rabbis working for the Religious Affairs Ministry.
