An unknown perpetrator shot the wife of Dr. Julio Schlosser, the president of an umbrella organization of the Jewish Community in Argentina (DAIA), on Saturday during a robbery in Buenos Aires. Mrs. Schlosser was wounded and hospitalized in intensive care.
According to reports from Argentina, the shots were fired at the couple while they were visiting friends in the Flores neighborhood in Buenos Aires.
Two criminals riding on a motorcycle attacked the couple and fired shots at them. The police noted that the couple did not try to resist the robbers, who fled the scene with Mrs. Schlosser's purse. She was taken to private hospital Finochietto and admitted to the intensive care unit.
According to the police, the criminals attempted to shoot Dr. Schlosser, but it suspects the bullets were not fired because of a stopper in the gun.
DAIA is a political organization of the Jewish community in Argentina, an important organization within the community.
Buenos Aires has suffered a wave of crime in recent months, with a dramatic increase in the amounts of armed robberies. An Israeli source said that in armed robberies in Argentina, the criminals shoot their victims regardless of the level of cooperation shown by the victims.
