Hamas opposes UN reconstruction plan for Gaza
GAZA CITY - The Hamas militant group said Sunday it opposes a UN reconstruction plan for the Gaza Strip following a 50-day war against Israel this summer.
Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri alled the UN mechanism "unacceptable, inefficient."
The UN announced the plan in September, creating a system to bring in badly needed reconstruction materials while sidelining Hamas.
Despite its unhappiness with the system, Abu Zuhri gave no indication that Hamas will disrupt the shipments.
