The head of the Lebanese-based Shiite group Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, vowed Tuesday to defeat the jihadists waging war on the regime in Syria.
Hezbollah militants would fight alongside the regime, Nasrallah said, in a speech to mark the Shiite commemoration of Ashura.
"We are entering the fourth year (of the war in Syria) and the extremists have failed to control Syria (...) it is a great victory," Nasrallah said. "We will defeat them in all regions, in all countries (...) these extremists have no future," he said, referring in particular to the Islamic State.
