Report: Jordan helped Syria stop al-Qaeda branch from taking control of border
Jordanian sources passed information to Syria that helped the country stop Jabhat al-Nusra, an al-Qaeda branch in Syria, from taking control of the border between the two countries, the Palestinian newspaper Al-Quds reported Wednesday.
In recent weeks, rebels have reported that they are close to taking over the Nasib Border Crossing, an international border crossing between Syria and Jordan, which would have given them control along the border. However, the Syrian army has attempted to halt such actions.
