Entering IDF Personnel Directorate: IDF should increase female mandatory service
Entering IDF Personnel Directorate Major General Hagai Topolansky called to increase the mandatory service of female soldiers of the IDF by four months on Wednesday, coinciding with the shorter service that will be implemented for male soldiers.
The shortening of mandatory service for men is expected to decrease the IDF's manpower by 9,300 mandatory service soldiers by 2018. Along with increasing the mandatory term for female soldiers, the IDF is also considering an option to shorten training periods and courses.
