Lieberman: East Jerusalem building is not settlement construction
Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman said Sunday that Israel will not limit its construction in Jewish neighborhoods in East Jerusalem and said construction in the Jewish settlements of Ramot, east Talpiyot and Har Homa is not considered settlement construction.
Following a meeting with German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Jerusalem, Lieberman said that comparing the relations between Israel and the European Union and the ones between Israel and the Palestinians is a mistake that does not help normalization of relations with the Palestinians.
The German foreign minister said "It is important for both sides not to take steps that could thwart the peace process. It will be impossible to achieve calm without a process that will lead to a sustainable peace."
