Yehuda Glick tells Chief Rabbi David Lau how the events unfolded the night of his shooting.

Yehuda Glick: Shooter yelled 'You're an enemy of al-Aqsa'

Glick tells Chief Rabbi David Lau of the night he was shot in Jerusalem during the religious leader's visit to Sha'are Zedek Medical Center.

"He approached me, stood across from me and said: 'I'm really sorry, you are an enemy of al-Aqsa' and shot," Yehuda Glick, the survivor of an assassination attempt, told the Chief Rabbi of Israel David Lau when he visited Glick at the Sha'are Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem on Monday.

"I'm not in the hospital because I had appendicitis or because I was shot at for being a red-head," Glick joked.

Glick was shot about two weeks ago at the entrance of the Menachem Begin Heritage Center and was taken to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in serious condition.

The terrorist, Moataz Hejazi, a 32-year-old Islamic Jihad operative from Abu Tor, was shot to death the next day by Israeli security forces.

"Our response is the fact that the nation of Israel is here with everything and despite everything and our eyes anticipate and desire Zion," said Chief Rabbi Lau to Glick during his visit at the hospital.

Last week, the first photo of Glick disconnected from a ventilator was released.

Yehuda's condition is continuing to improve," his wife Yafa said.

"We are experiencing miracles day to day and see from eye to eye how the prayers and strength from the entire nation of Israel have reached us. I'm sending you a tremendous thank you from myself, from the family and from Yehuda of course," his wife said.

Glick's wife requested the public to refrain from visiting the hospital in the message saying, "Yehuda and the rest of us are busy healing right now. We would be grateful to you if you continue to pray and send strength from afar. According to the medical team, it is still not the time (for visits).
