Almog Shiloni the IDF soldier who was stabbed and killed in Tel Aviv.
Nur a-Din Abu Hashiya, the terrorist who stabbed and killed IDF solider Almog Shiloni in Tel Aviv two weeks ago, was indicted on Monday at Tel Aviv's District Court, which ordered to extend the remand of Abu Hashiya pending his trial.
The indictment revealed Abu Hashiya entered Israel illegaly with the intent to stab a soldier and become a martyr.
Prosecuting attorney Hadas Forrer-Gafni, from the Tel Aviv District Prosecutor's Office, said Monday Abu Hashiya "murdered Shiloni without mercy, with severe violence and (use) of a cold weapon."
Shiloni struggled with the terrorist and was mortally wounded. A few hours later, he succumbed to his wounds. Abu Hashiya was caught in a building he had escaped to about 100 meters away from the site of the attack.
According to the indictment, Abu Hashiya entered Israel on November 9, a day before the stabbing attack, and arrived at an empty apartment on Michelangelo Street in Jaffa.
According to the prosecution, the next morning he attempted to find a job, but after he was unsuccessful he decided to carry out the attack and bought a knife at the Jaffa Flea Market.
At 12:10pm, Abu Hashiya saw Shiloni, an IDF soldier carrying an M-16 rifle, at the Haganah Train Station in Tel Aviv and decided to murder him, steal his weapon and carry out an attack in which he would murder more Jews.
Abu Hashiya repeatedly stabbed Shiloni, even after the soldier had fallen to the ground. As he attempted to take Shiloni's weapon, a passerby hit Abu Hashiya, causing him to flee the scene.
According to Prosecutor Forrer-Gafni, Abu Hashiya confessed to police investigators and interrogators and offered a full recount of the attack. The prosecution also gathered DNA that was on the knife and several witness testimonies.
The request to extend Abu Hashiya's remand stated: "There is no need to carry out DNA testing when in the hands of the prosecution lies (Abu Hashiya's) full confession on the severity of his actions. He decided to carry out a terror attack by killing a soldier, taking his weapon, and killing additional Jews, with the hope he would be the next to be killed and receive the status of a martyr."
