Eight pairs of shoes stolen from Majdanek concentration camp museum in Poland

Eight pairs of shoes belonging to prisoners of the Majdanek concentration camp in Poland during the Holocaust were reported stolen from the museum at the site on Tuesday.

A guard patrolling the area noticed that the separation guarding prisoner's shoes was cut and several pairs had been stolen. The local police opened up an investigation.

Less than a month ago, the sign with the chilling inscription "Arbeit macht frei" ("Work will set you free") on the gate outside of the Dachau concentration camp in Germany was stolen. German Chancellor Angela Merkel strongly condemned the act and the police opened an investigation into the incident. The perpetrators behind the theft have not been found.
