Report: Former Iraqi PM al-Maliki to meet with Hezbollah officials
Former Prime Minister of Iraq Nouri al-Maliki is expected to visit Lebanon next week and meet with officials in the government and Hezbollah. The news was reported in Hezbollah's television network, Al-Manar.
In August, current Iraqi President Fuad Masum gave Haider al-Abadi the task of forming a government instead of al-Maliki, a step viewed by many as a dismissal. The US State Department responded by expressing support for Masum's decision, and committed to sending further military aid to Iraq.
