Russia urges world to focus on Palestinian-Israeli conflict, recognize Palestine
Russia is urging the international community to increase its attention to the settlement of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, whose ultimate end should be the establishment of a Palestinian state, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said, according to Russian news agency Interfax.
"We attached particular significance to the need to take the Arab-Israeli settlement process out of a deadlock. The fact that this problem has not been settled for decades has become a serious destabilizing factor," Lavrov was quoted as saying in the Russian-Arab forum in Khartoum.
"We deem it necessary for the international community to increase its attention to this problem, so that the Palestinian people and their national aspirations be fulfilled and so that they obtain their state living in peace and security with all of their neighbors, including Israel," Lavrov said.
