Berlin or Hamburg to bid for 2024 Summer Games
Berlin or Hamburg will bid for the 2024 Summer Olympics under plans formally approved Saturday by Germany's National Olympic Committee.
Germany has not staged an Olympics since the 1972 Summer Games in Munich, where Palestinian terrorist group Black September took hostage and then murdered 11 Israeli athletes.
Berlin has hosted the summer games once, in 1936, when the Nazi Party was in power. Hitler saw the games as an opportunity for propaganda, commissioning documentarian Leni Riefenstahl to film the proceedings.
