EAPC says 5 million liters of crude oil spilled in southern Israel

The Eilat Ashkelon Pipeline Company (EAPC) transferred statistics to the Environmental Protection Ministry shedding light to the fact that 5 million liters of crude oil spilled as a result of a burst in the Trans-Israel pipeline in southern Israel.

The new statistics come after the company initially said that between 1-1.5 million liters had spilled. It should be noted that the Ministry reacted with skepticism to preliminary data provided by the EAPC.

The EAPC further said that until now, 2 million liters of crude oil had been vacuumed and 13 tons of contaminated land was collected.

The Environmental Protection Ministry is preparing for possible flooding on Tuesday with pollution absorption equipment. Furthermore, dams were built surrounding the Evrona Nature Reserve to prevent the contamination from reaching the inlet in case of flooding.
