Eisenkot replaced as deputy IDF chief by Yair Golan
The newly-appointed IDF chief, Maj.-Gen. Gadi Eisenkot, left the office of deputy chief of staff on Monday, and was replaced by Maj.-Gen. Yair Golan.
Eisenkot served as deputy IDF chief of staff for the past two years.
"I got to see your work up close as a minister, and I of course valued the way you navigated things in a difficult time of budget constraints," Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon said at the ceremony. "In light of this, and probably not just this, I recommended you to be the next chief of staff."
