An apparently unbalanced driver ran over pedestrians Sunday night in Dijon, wounding 11, two of them critically, according to French media reports.
The driver reportedly shouted "Allahu Akbar" and "This is in the name of the children of Palestine". French authorities refrained from speculating on the motive.
Police reportedly said the attacker was a 40-year-old man who "fit the profile of someone with mental problems". He was arrested, and a source told the AFP news agency that he would apparently be taken to a psychiatric hospital.
It was also reported that the attack took place at four different locations, and that the suspect also attacked security officers. Some media sources reported that there were also two other people in the vehicle, and that there was an ongoing search for them.
The incident came a day after an attack on a police station in central France, in which a Muslim stabbed three police officers while shouting "Allahu Akbar".
