St. Louis County police say a man who pulled a gun and pointed it at an officer has been killed the St. Louis suburb of Berkeley, Missouri.

Sgt. Brian Schellman says a police officer with the city of Berkeley was conducting a routine business check at a gas station around 11:15 p.m. Wednesday when he observed two male subjects and approached them.

Schellman says one of the men pulled a handgun and pointed it at the officer as he approached. The officer then fired several shots, striking and fatally wounding the suspect. Schellman says the second suspect fled.
