Two Border Guard officers were stabbed near the Lions' Gate of the Old City in Jerusalem early Friday morning. A 19-year-old border policeman was stabbed in the neck and a 35-year-old officer was stabbed in his hand.
The two Israelis were lightly wounded and evacuated to Shaare Zedek Medical Center. The attacker fled the scene; large forces are canvassing the area. The Lions' Gate entry was blocked and checkpoints were deployed to locate the suspect.

The preliminary investigation determined the Arab suspect stabbed the younger Border Guard with a knife as worshippers were exiting after morning prayers on the Temple Mount. A fellow officer struggled with the suspect, and another Border Guardsman was wounded in the attempted arrest.
Magen David Adom medic Haim Haimson and paramedic Hanan Meir said the victims were fully conscious at the scene. "We gave them the initial medical treatment on the ground, which included stopping the bleeding and dressing the wounds."
Jerusalem District Police Chief Moshe Adri arrived at the scene soon after the attack. "This is a serious event, an attack on police officers. The Jerusalem Police will work to apprehend the terrorist."
